3.?  Representatives from the following (18) neighborhoods introduced themselves and some gave reports:Belding/Woods, Coronado, Fairmede/Hilltop, Greenbriar, Hilltop District, Hilltop Villages, Marina Bay, North & East, Panhandle Annex, Parchester Village, Park Plaza, Pt. Richmond, Pullman, Richmond Annex, Richmond Heights, Richmore Village Metro Square, Santa Fe, and Shields/Reid NCs.

4. City Department Heads/City Official Reports:

City Manager/Community Coordinator?: Rochelle Monk – Not Available

Mayor’s office?: Alex Knox – talked about the Mayor’s Community Relations and the different events he is putting on to raise money and awareness for it. Food Week will culminate with an event on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 11-2 on Macdonald Ave. in downtown Richmond. The The Mayor’s Branding and Marketing campaign now has a survey so all of the residents of Richmond can have a say in how their city is perceived. The City Manager has been having meetings pertaining to the Richmond Promise and who is eligible and how much will be going to students. The Mayor’s Business Roundtable meetings are finished for this year and his next one will be February 2016. There will be a party in honor of Eleanor Loynd on November 8, 2015. The Mayor’s golf tournament raised $15,000.00 for Youth Sports in Richmond. The City Council took the EBMUD pledge to cease using excessive water within the City. If you notice excessive water use on City property, please call the City and if you find it other places, please call EBMUD.

Planning Department?: Staff – Not Available, but did drop off their Plan Projects under review by neighborhood council

Fire Department: ?Terry Harris was not available but Battalion Chief Oscar Jones took his place and he told us that most of their calls are for medical emergencies. For the first quarter of the fiscal year (June – August) the Fire Department had 3700 calls and of those 3700, 80% were medical. The Fire Department is working to improve services and they have a mutual aid contract with the county. The Fire Department now have a new Fire Chief and a Deputy Chief that the City has never had and they are going in a new direction to improve services and make the department more efficient. They are adding an additional truck to Station 62.

5? .  Announcements from RNCC PIO: Garland Ellis told us about the opening of the Richmond Swim Center on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 5 -7 pm, the El Cerrito – Richmond Fire and Police Holiday Toy drive kicks off with a breakfast at the Marriott Hotel on November 6, 2015 starting at 6:30 am. The Re-entry Center at 912 Macdonald (the old Milen’s Jewelry Store) is opening once the renovations are completed. October 24, 2015 from 8am to 5pm is the Make a Difference Day JFK Park rebuild. Fire Department is testing children’s seats to see if they are installed correctly. The South Shore Specific plan is going before City Council as well as the 13th Street/Rumrill project.

6. ? Presentations:?

1) PG&E Gas Safety Project presented by Sarah Wetter and company. This is about the gas transmission lines that carry high pressure gases throughout the City. Always call 811 before digging. They are looking at the pipelines that PG&E run through the City and making sure  that there is a pipe safety zone between items like fence posts, trees, buildings or storage sheds, pools or hot tubs, sports courts, patios, decks and other objects in the ground.

2) West County Wastewater District, Steve Linsley spoke to us regarding what we should be putting into our toilets. To prevent backups, only put waste, water (liquids), and toilet paper into your toilet. The flushables do not dissolve in the toilets and can cause backups in your system.

3) Lifelong Medical Care presented by Gail Ellis and Lucinda Brazil. They came to tell us and our neighbors about their private nonprofit urgent care facilities in Richmond and in San Pablo. They are trying to educate the people that you do not need to go to emergency when you can go to urgent care and get the same treatment.

Notice about the location of the October 19 meeting of the Richmond Neighborhood Coordinating Council:

Our October 19 meeting will be held in Conference Room 1, Community Services Building, 330 25th Street.  This notice accompanies the meeting Agenda.  Conference Room 1 served as our meeting space for at least 10 years.  However, the room was needed by other groups which resulted in RNCC’s move to the meeting room in the basement of 440 Civic Center Plaza.  There was significant dissatisfaction with the basement room so earlier this year when Rochelle found we might use City Council Chambers, we moved there.  The October 19 meeting will take place in a room some of us know well but we are unsure where we will meet in November.  Stay tuned.

For those unfamiliar with the Community Services Building (CSB), it adjoins the Senior Center on Macdonald Avenue.  The CSB is located directly behind the Richmond Public Library.  The main entrance to the CSB faces 25th Street but we cannot use that entrance.  Instead, we will enter through doors at the rear of the building, facing the Library.  Conference Room 1 is through the open door to your right as you enter.  The door to your left connects to the Senior Center.  It is locked as are all of the other doors in this building.

Parking is available both in the lot on the 25th Street side of the building and in the lot on the Nevin Avenue side of the building.
