RNCC Meeting Minutes, September 13, 2010
1. President Roberson called the meeting to order at 7 pm.
2. The minutes of the RNCC meeting of July 12 were approved as presented.
Introductions and Neighborhood Reports were received from the 10 NC representatives in attendance.
3. Naomi Williams RNCC PIO announced the Home Front Festival by the Bay, October 2, 2010.
4. Reports were received from City Staff:
Planning: A summary of projects was distributed. No questions.
Engineering: no report
Mayor’s Office: reported up coming events .
City Manager/Community Coordinator: Checks from SIMS Metal Management will soon be distributed to those NC’s which participated in neighborhood cleanups this year.
Police Department: Chief Magnus reported a steady decline in most crime, especially homicides which are about 50% less than the same time in 2009.
Environmental manager: Lynne Scarpa reported GETS energy services
Public Works: Yader Bermudez handed out a schedule of repavement of City streets
5. Presentations:
Hanna Hamilton provided insight about Community Violence Solutions and the Anti-Human-trafficking project.
Tracy Craig informed the Council of the upcoming Richmond Art Center Celebration.
6. Old Business:
Don Woodrow offered a review of the RNCC copying/mailing policy ( see attachment).
Some NC’s are not yet comfortable with the policy. NC’s meeting the criteria for support after publication of this policy will be assisted in getting City support by RNCC officers. This issue is likely to be with us for the foreseeable future.
7. New Business:
Mary Renfro from the City Attorney’s office described the proposed City ordinance covering the establishment of medical marijuana dispensaries in Richmond. President Roberson urged each NC to present this information at their next meeting and to make their wishes known to Council at upcoming Council meetings.
President Roberson appointed Don Woodrow, Owen Martin, and Jan Mignone to a nomination committee. The Committee is to present a slate of officers at the October 18th Meeting.
8. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:10 pm
Refreshments at the break were kindly provided by the City of Richmond. The food and drink was appreciated by one and all. Remaining items were delivered to the Richmond Police Department.
